As Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for grades 7-12, my role plays a vital leadership position in shaping educational programs, ensuring instructional excellence, and improving student outcomes.
Curriculum Development & Alignment
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum to ensure alignment with NYS Learning Standards and district goals.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop rigorous and engaging curricula.
- Integrating best practices, culturally responsive teaching, literacy skills, and 21st-century skills into instruction.
Instructional Leadership
- Support teachers with professional development to enhance instructional strategies.
- Observe classrooms, providing coaching, and facilitating professional learning communities (PLCs).
- Encourage the use of data-driven instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Assessment & Data Analysis
- Lead the implementation and analysis of state assessments (Regents exams, NYS ELA/Math assessments, etc.) and local benchmarks.
- Use data to identify trends, improve student achievement, and inform instructional decisions.
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal assessment regulations.
Teacher & Staff Support
- Collaborate with the leadership team and instructional coach to provide targeted support for teachers.
- Assist in hiring, mentoring, and evaluating instructional staff.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Compliance & Accountability
- Ensure alignment with NYS Education Department (NYSED) policies and mandates.
- Oversee curriculum audits and reporting on student performance.
- Support school and district-wide improvement initiatives.
