Curriculum and Instruction

As Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for grades 7-12, my role plays a vital leadership position in shaping educational programs, ensuring instructional excellence, and improving student outcomes.

Curriculum Development & Alignment

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum to ensure alignment with NYS Learning Standards and district goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop rigorous and engaging curricula.
  • Integrating best practices, culturally responsive teaching, literacy skills, and 21st-century skills into instruction.

Instructional Leadership

  • Support teachers with professional development to enhance instructional strategies.
  • Observe classrooms, providing coaching, and facilitating professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Encourage the use of data-driven instruction to meet diverse student needs.

Assessment & Data Analysis

  • Lead the implementation and analysis of state assessments (Regents exams, NYS ELA/Math assessments, etc.) and local benchmarks.
  • Use data to identify trends, improve student achievement, and inform instructional decisions.
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal assessment regulations.

Teacher & Staff Support

  • Collaborate with the leadership team and instructional coach to provide targeted support for teachers.
  • Assist in hiring, mentoring, and evaluating instructional staff.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Compliance & Accountability

  • Ensure alignment with NYS Education Department (NYSED) policies and mandates.
  • Oversee curriculum audits and reporting on student performance.
  • Support school and district-wide improvement initiatives.

Overall, the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment ensures that students in grades 7-12 receive high-quality education through strong curriculum planning, instructional leadership, and effective assessment practices. We strive to serve as a bridge between district goals, state requirements, and classroom instruction to drive academic success.
