YWCP Stands in Solidarity with our Black Community

Young Women’s College Prep stands in solidarity with the Greater Rochester NY Black Agenda Group in declaring racism a public health crisis. The recent string of violence against Black Americans is only a symptom of the larger historical system of racism in this country. For too long, Black communities have faced systematic oppression, exclusion, and violence, resulting in disparities in health care, education, housing, employment, and other resources.

As a school that is committed to Restorative Practices, we firmly believe that justice must include acknowledging the harm that has been done, and taking accountability through action. We stand committed to engaging in the work of racial justice, starting with examining ourselves, and making a commitment to engage in anti-racist action within our school and community. We hope you will take action in whatever way you can, large or small.
